Proper dance attire is required for all dance classes. Properly fitted dance shoes and comfortable,

correctly fitted attire are important elements in assuring a dancer's success. Having 'special' clothes and shoes that are just for dance class helps young children recognize that dance time is a special and important event.

*HAIR SHOULD BE OFF THE FACE IN A PONYTAIL OR BUN (BALLET). *NO CHEWING GUM IN CLASS

*PLEASE...NO BRACELETS OR NECKLACES. *PROPER DANCE ATTIRE IS REQUIRED!

*STREET SHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE DANCE FLOORS!

PLEASE NOTE: Legs must be covered (tights, leggings), midriffs are not to be exposed. Females must keep hair off the face,

preferably in a low ponytail or bun.

ADULT DANCE (18 Years +): By approval only!

1-hour class: Calling all dancers! This class is a combination of ages yet seasoned dancers!

Lakeshore Academy of the Arts Staff, Advanced Students and Dancers!

Attire: dance clothes preferred (tight fitting), black or tan jazz shoes and/or sneakers - whatever you have!

ADULT JAZZ & TAP (16 Years +): 45 minutes:

Calling all Moms/Dads and anyone who has ever wanted to learn jazz/hip-hop in a comfortable setting

or if you already have some moves and the desire to keep on dance. Beginning/Intermediate levels.

Attire: comfortable clothing (pants preferred), black tap shoes

DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES AND PROPER DANCE ATTIRE:

CONTEMPORARY : (Ages 7-Adult)

Contemporary Dance is a combination of jazz and ballet which derives from classical ballet, modern and jazz dance. Contemporary dance is very strong in style, technique and choreography!

Attire: leotard, tights (any color) crop tops & booty shorts, tan lyrical sandals, barefoot

KINDER DANCE (3 in 1): Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling (Ages 4-7)

All levels. Basic fundamentals of each genre.

Attire: Leotard, tights (any color), pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, (skirt is optional)

clothing. No jeans please! Black jazz shoes.

MUSICAL THEATER (7-18):

You will explore how to develop and maintain a character while dancing. Styles will vary from classical to contemporary musical theater.

Attire: Leotard and tights (any color) leggings or dance pants, tight fitted clothing. No jeans please! Black Jazz shoes.

PRESCHOOL (2.5-4 Years):

class consists of: pre-ballet, pre-tap, tumbling, singing and lots of fun with high energy!

Attire: leotard, tights (any color), pink ballet shoes needed (skirt is optional).

POINTE (12+ Years):

40-minute class, ballet technique working in pointe shoes, must be 12 years old, 2 years prior classical ballet experience required. Continuing ballet class is also required.

Attire: plain leotard, pink tights, skirt, pointe shoes –see instructor for help, skirt is optional. *Please note: it is very important that dancers get "fitted" for their pointe shoes by a professional.

TAP (8+ Years):

beginning, intermediate technique and choreography - variety of styles

Attire: tight fitting top (females) with dance pants or leggings, leotard and tights (skirt is optional) tap shoes

JAZZ & HIP HOP (6-18 Years):

Combination of jazz technique and hip hop dance.

Attire: Tight-fitting top (females) with dance pants, sweat pants, black jazz shoes.
